RE: There are so many kungfu schools in Wudang, I feel confused..
Yes, you are right. At present there are around 15 - 20 kungfu schools and each one gained permission from local government who recently spend lots of efforts in promoting the
kungfu influence in the aim to develop local economy and prominence, as many local government in China do. As you mentioned, naturally there are many schools that could not offer
qualified teaching. Here I like to list the difference our school has in comparison with other schools.
- Location: we are located high up on the Wudang mountain, close to the biggest Taoist temple complex of Purple Heaven Palace. All other schhols locates at the foot of the mountain or in the Wudang Town. Once within Wudnag town (50 thousand population) you cannot have any feeling of mountain and you cannot see the moutain because it is located 30 kilometers away. The uproariousness and bustling run everywhere in the town as they do with all cities in China.
- Only on the mountain you can experience the spirit of mount Wudang. The most cultural relics are on the mountain, the serenity, the amazing beautiful environment and the wordless chanting of nature would every now and then please your mind till it goes down to your spirit.
- Many kungfu coaches and masters working in other kungfu schools once studied in our school. We are the only school affiliated under Wudang Taoist Association.
- School building is a Taoist temple, serving as one integrated part of Purple Heaven Palace. So, from July 2010 on all students should become a Taoist and live the Taoist life everyday. Do Taoist rituals, learn Taoist study, eat Taoist food and wear Taoist clothes. Everything features Taoist style.
- Besides traditional kungfu forms all other schools teach, we are teaching or planing to teach medicinal herbology, I-Ching theory, Chinese massage, Taoist internal alchemy, Taoist music. In fact, our school is quickly evolving into a Taoist Study College. For more information please visit Wudang Taoist Kung Fu Academy
Here I attach two photos below for better understanding the above-mentioned points.
